Anyone who has had the good fortune to relax or have lunch in the gardens of the Calendal remembers the experience.

Because such a haven of green, enclosed by high stone walls, nestling between the Roman theatre and the Amphitheatre, in the heart of the ancient town centre, is simply difficult to imagine from the street.

A classified garden

In 2003, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs classified the hotel’s gardens as belonging to the nation’s general cultural heritage.

The experts consider the garden, created in the 1890s, as being remarkable on three counts – its situation, its layout and the species which are found in it, in particular the 100 year old nettle tree or ‘micocoulier’.
