On the Max Dormoy quay, Arles, November 2017 (Sur le Quai Marx Dormoy, Arles, Novembre 2017) is a photograph I made thinking about the works of the American painter Alice Neel, whose paintings were recently exhibited in the Van Gogh Foundation. Among the numerous paintings made by the artist, they were small formats showing the façades of buildings at different times of day and seasons of the year. That evening on the quays, the twilight reflected by windows reminded me of the yellow rectangle against a black backdrop of the painting entitled Night, 1959.
